By Harriett Crosby

In case you want to have a new path installed in your compound, there is no doubt that pavers are an appropriate choice. This style of installation is appropriate as it gives your house and compounds a brand new and attractive look. In the end, it adds value to your property or home. While fixing pavers, consider having a mixture of the various kinds of materials for your paver installation.

The process of installing paver is simple if the person doing it follows the right procedure. You do not have to hire an expert to install it on your behalf. All you need to do is get the right materials and follow the right procedure. Some supplies that are required for this task include a shovel, crushed gravel, a stiff broom, rubber mallet, construction grade sand and gardening hose among many other supplies. You will need to prepare these supplies so that the setting up procedure is smooth with no hick ups.

After you get these supplies ready, the next thing is to get ready for the task. There are some steps that ought to be considered to ensure that the results are good enough. The first step is to outline the project. One needs to get a diagram that illustrates how the task will be carried out. Draw this project then outline the specific the area that you plan to pave. A string and yard stakes are used to outline the area. This is important because it helps you to get the right measurements you need to buy.

Making the area clear of anything is the next very important step. This can be done by doing away with all the shrubs or rocks that may be in that location. Evacuating the place is of utmost importance. It makes it easier to evacuate the soil, which is the step that follows next. A shovel may be used for this purpose.

Laying the correct gravel base is the step that follows next. The base should be about two inches thick. However, in areas where the drainage is poor or water logged areas, the grave ought to be made of more inches. This is not the last step though. Addition of sand should be the next step as it is very important.

Once you have completed these steps, the next thing is to start the paving process. You can start with one corner then move to the rest, one at a time. Ensure that each stone is flat on the ground as it makes the pave to look smart. In case it does not seem flat, do away with any sand that may be below it.

Place each of the stone by use of a mallet. By doing so, you can be sure that the stones are securely placed in their position. In case you leave any stone loose, it may end up causing some cracks in future. Therefore, be very cautious.

The last bit is applying sealant to the final product. Adding sealant tends to increase the lifespan of the pave and reduces the probability of weeds growing. Thus, the step is vital in ensuring the pavement is durable. These guidelines are essential when carrying out paver installation.
