Landscaping Design Suggestions

By Ailene Acord

Landscaping design ideas include design ideas that add variety and color to a garden, which in turn, spruce up a yard.

What does not fail to always make a home appear more welcoming? If your answer to the question was flowers, then you are on the right track. By adorning your entrance with an assorted bunch of annuals and perennials, you will be able to have color in your home all year long, summer, spring, autumn and winter.

Educate yourself with the rudiments of landscaping. Equip yourself with plant care and pruning knowledge. This will keep you from making costly mistakes in planning your outdoor landscape. Once educated, you can then do most of the work yourself. This is probably the best way to save on bringing your inexpensive landscaping ideas to fruition.

Clematis is best planted during fall or spring, when the weather is cool. To grow them properly, you would need fertile, loose and well drained soil nurtured with organic matter. The more organic matter, the better. Planting them on trees with its leaves under the sun and its roots shaded from the sun is preferable since they prefer cooled roots.

Toward the back of the island, the addition of a low boxwood hedge with roses, annuals and perennials rising above the hedge of the front is the way to go. For a more eye-catching look, you can intermingle a variety of colors, textures and heights.

Soil improvement and tree addition are the two things to focus on when thinking of inexpensive landscaping ideas. The soil quality can be improved by adding compost and other ingredients to it. This is the better option to buying soil.

Dressing up an unattractive driveway is a matter of a careful landscaping sculpture using the right materials interspersed with complementing plants. In the center of the drive, sculpturing can start with the creation of a slightly raised island of lawn.
