Gas Fire Pits-Easy Warmth In Any Yard

By Todd Alan

Every yard activity will be boosted with the addition of a gas fire pit. These outside appliances provide heat, light and a fun atmosphere to any backyard. The newest additions to the fire pit craze are gas fire pits that use propane as a fuel source. Propane offers a safer and more effective flame and is easier controlled. Most gas applications provide a remote control starter that may also be used to control the flame height in the fire pit.

The fire pits that operate on gas are larger than the wood fire pits. The addition of gas as a fuel source allows easier control over the fire and the appliances are way more open in appearance. Most gas applications are constructed with a stone outer enclosure. The boastful fire bowls are open and contain a gas orifice that supplies the flames. These huge fire bowls are full of rock or artificial logs that give the feel of burning logs when the fire is burning. As with most gas and propane appliances there is little upkeep needed aside from insuring the propane tank is filled.

Where a wood fire pit is a lightweight style device that can be relocated, the gas fire pit is a permanent appliance that, once prepared often can't be easily moved to some other spot. It's critical to arrange the back garden activities around the gas fire pit by proper placement of outside furniture. Gas fire pits may also be connected to a natural gas source.

Connections to a source of natural gas sometimes mean a permanent placement of the fire pit. Gas fire pit applications are normally sold with a propane connection and a coupler that allows conversion to natural gas. The propane cylinders that are required are the same as the ones used on a propane gas grill.

Since gas appliances are rather more substantial and permanent in nature the cost of gas or propane fire pits are much higher than the wood burning units. Many of the gas fire pits are available at costs close to $1,000.00 where the wood burning units cost one or two hundred greenbacks. A gas burning application will last many years and provide a central meeting place in the back garden that's worm and genial. The simplicity of use and low upkeep of a gas or propane fire pit more than compensates for the additional cost. With no need to touch off the fire and clean the ashes any of the gas fire pits is a decision that will make the patron ecstatic.
