Different Types Of Tucson Irrigation Systems

By Eliza Mendoza

Tucson irrigation has proved to be very useful to crops, flowers and watering plants. This is because the systems have greatly aided in water conservation. The good thing about the systems is that they help in saving plenty of time that should have been used when watering your plants. There are different systems which are applied in irrigating plants that are modified for various watering uses. Here there are some various systems that are discussed.

There is the sprinkler system. These are used mostly in golf courses, parks and apartment complexes. The system is buried under the ground then when pressure builds the sprinkler heads come out of the ground to water the garden or lawn. However, some systems of this type have the head of the sprinkler permanently above the ground . The rotary type of sprinkler system covers a very large area as it moves in a circular motion.

There is another type known as center pivot which has its towers mounted with an overhead sprinkler. The tower also uses circular motions which can help in watering all the vegetation. A timer can be set to manage its operation so as to maximize plants growth especially when watered at the right period. This system is commonly used in irrigation farms.

Terrace system is another type. The system is useful in steep areas. Much labor is required in the system thus making it a less practiced irrigation method. In order to retain water in your land, you have to create steps in it. This will help in enhancing effective drainage in the slopes.

Another one is drip system. This is the most effective type of irrigating system which has been proved to be 90 percent efficient. These systems work by dripping water directly into the roots of the plant. It is also referred to as tickle system because of the slow manner of watering plants. By sprinkling water directly into the soil to reach the plant roots, minimal amount of water is used. However, care should be taken when using this system to not operate it for too long because too much water can move below the root zone leading to over saturation of the soil.

Surface irrigating system uses gravitational force to distribute water to the targeted area. It is also known as flood system. Even though it is one of the ancient watering systems, it is still common today among farmers. If you are looking for a system that will help you save on water, this system is not the best because it tend to use a lot of water which can saturate the plants.

There is another traditional method known as ditch system. This method is being overwhelmed by new methods. It involves creating of canals between crops rows. The minor canals should join a major canal that helps in supplying water to them. The minor ditches usually supply water to the plants.

All these Tucson irrigation systems are meant to water your plants, lawn or garden though they vary in how they dispense the water and how they also obtain water from each source. So you have to choose the one that suits your need with regard to the size of field you have, the efficiency of the system as well as your water source. Ensure the system you use is able to uniformly supply water to the entire field.
