Tips In Making Quality Luminary Candles

By Ruthie Livingston

Whenever there are holidays coming right up the corner, you might want to consider decorating according to your theme. Classic holiday decorations vary greatly as there are many of them in the market that you can choose from. Whatever you choose can become great additions to your home's exterior.

There is no need for you to spend a hefty sum just to acquire the said decoration. Even if you create one yourself, you should be able to enjoy a great accessory for this upcoming holiday celebration. A good example of what product one can make on your own would be the luminary candles. It is one of the easy-to-do arts and crafts project.

In making the said merchandise, there are materials which you got to get. Make sure to collect these materials beforehand to avoid having problems during the actual making process. The first thing you got to get is the votive candle, specifically the ones which are long burning. You also need sand, long lighter, and white paper bags.

Be sure to pick a good spot where this final product can be positioned. This position must be decided before you carry out the work. After all, you need to measure that spot. After measuring the area, one can decide how many luminaries to create. The number of luminaries depends on what spacing you choose as well.

Your white paper bags are the next things you should take advantage of. You need to find the ones with a lunch size. Unfold these paper bags to start your craft. Be sure to turn the openings for at least one inch since that is the best way to make the bag a lot more stable. Proceed with the next step only after you did this.

Get your sand. The bag should be filled with two inches of it. For an estimate, you could have two cups of sand for that. In cases when a person does not have sand, then you could just use kitty litter. However, you should put in three inches or three cups worth of kitty litters instead of two since the latter is lighter than the other.

After you have placed enough sand or kitty litter into the bag to prevent it from being blown over by just a weak breeze, one should place these bags outside then. Position them in those spots where you want them to be. When nighttime comes, you will then light these up.

Adding the candle is the last step to take when doing this craft. Nestle the candle into the sand or the kitty litter. After that, take your long lighter to light up this candle. There are cases when one does not have the long lighter. As an alternative, you just need to light up the candle before placing them right inside the bag.

With the luminaries you have made, you can line up your driveway or sidewalk with it. The decoration is what will welcome your guests during a holiday feast. Be it before Christmas or New Year, you can make the luminaries shine out the brightest and the most beautiful. It should be worth it to have the said candles for your celebration.
