How Wedding Luminary Bags Can Add A Special Touch To Your Celebration

By Stephen Kennedy

Decorating your ceremony and reception site can be a huge consideration for couples. An increasing number of couples are using wedding luminary bags to give their day a beautiful and romantic feel. If you are interested in purchasing and utilizing these items, here are some tips and tricks that you might want to use.

If you have attended special events or celebrations you may have seen them decorated with what look like glowing bags. These are luminaria. Inside is a candle that has been anchored with sand or another type of weight. When the candle burns, the light it sends out will create a fair amount of light inside the bag. This beams forth and can create a stunning focal point for someone to look at.

Ceremonies are not the only place that these items can be used. They can also be used to decorate a reception venue as well. If you know that one area will be more dimly lit than another, this may be a better place for you to position your candles. This is because the light they send out may be lost if the lighting is very bright.

An aisle can look beautiful when lined with candles. They can be set on the floor on either side of the aisle where the wedding party will walk. Often, ropes, ribbons or garlands are used to show guests that they should not cross the line created by the candles. This is a good way to ensure that they will not get knocked over. If they are, this may cause the candle to go out or the bag to catch fire.

You can also use them to decorate the area where you will be saying your vows. You may want to place them around the altar or if you are using a chuppah, arch or canopy you may want to add them around the base of these structures to draw attention to them and give them an added touch of visual interest. The table where you are signing the license or register could also benefit from decorating with these items.

Receptions can also benefit from the use of these items as well. For example, you could use a grouping of them as an alternative to floral centerpieces. If you are using one portion of a venue for your ceremony and another portion for your reception, you may want to use lumninaries to form a path from one area to the other.

You may want to consider options other than a plain bag as your candle surround. These items can be printed with or decorated with images or initials. You could also consider cutting out portions of the bag so that a pattern is formed from the candle light. If you are planning a ceremony or reception that is dimly lit this may be a beautiful visual effect that your guests will appreciate.

There are many online retailers that offer these items for sale. If you want custom options you may have to search a little further in order to find one that has the style you are looking for. Just make sure to take into account shipping and design costs when you decide whether or not they will work with the budget you have set for decorations.
