Is Pruning A Good Idea In Fall Season

By Sharon Hamilton

For those people who love seeing plants growing at their community, they will surely enjoy the art of gardening. Moreover, it could also provide some health benefits to them such as increasing their Vitamin D, lifting up their moods, etc. And it is also another way for humans to exercise their body. No wonder lots of people would want some lawn at their property so they could have their garden. Aside from that, they could also modify their garden into whatever they like and increase its aesthetics. But sometimes, they have some misconceptions about fall pruning Thomaston which leads their plants to be destroyed instead.

For those nature-lovers, they definitely have an idea about what pruning does to a certain plant. It is basically the method of keeping your trees and other plants healthy and good. Aside from that, you also need it so you could protect your garden and your property from potential hazards such as pests. It involves removing rotten or dead parts and also trimming it to help a plant develop in a healthy way.

Through this, plants will grow healthy because those dying and rotten parts are being eradicated. It protects them from animal and pest infestation while its natural shape and growth will continue to be in good state. Aside from that, it can also protect your loved ones because sometimes, broken branches may harm some persons as they walk or hang around on that area.

As you see, it does contains several benefits. And when the autumn season finally comes, your hands might be itching to get some tools and start some pruning. But then, you must know this one thing. Fall is never the best season for you to do that activity.

Of course the benefits listed above are the reasons why pruning is important. So why exclude the fall season with that method? Yes, it does encourage a plant to have some new growth, however, pruning can also be a wound for them. And in his season, those wounds will not heal in a fast process.

You must know that the next season after fall is winter. And during cold seasons, the energy of plants are all concentrated to their roots. Meaning, the wounds might not get some attention and therefore, it leaves the plants into a fragile state.

So what will you do instead during that season? Of course you would not just stand and watch everything turning into something messy. You may do mulching and also raking for your lawns. In fact, mulch is helpful in protecting your plants during winter season as it gives nutrients to their roots.

Deep watering can also help. It might be tough for them to get water from winter from the cold grounds. It could be helpful for the trees. Aside from that, you may resume pruning on the late winter or perhaps during early spring.

The main rule is that fall is not a good time for you to do pruning at your garden. In that case, you should wait for another months. Unless you want those plants to die instead.
