Tips For Establishing Tag Sales Long Island

By Pamela Bailey

People tend to keep a lot of junk as they continue to buy new ones. Most of the unused items can be a nuisance to most homeowners especially when planning to relocate to limited space. Therefore, setting up a garage sale can be the best idea to clear off some of these items. Here are a few tips for establishing tag sales Long Island that one can ponder on.

Decide on your date. Most people prefer holding a tag sale before they move to their new residence. However, there are specific duration that can make better sales compared with others. You should look for a weekend preferably on a Saturday. Avoid holidays or during a significant event in your town since there are chances of getting less attendance.

List all items that you intend to deal with. Create an inventory of all good that you have including those that you do not want to sell. Divide them based on their condition, the placement, and their usage to select them accordingly. Making such a decision will help you sort out the goods accordingly.

Keep your items clean. It is hard to sell goods to clients if they are dirty. In that case, you should make a point of cleaning them to ensure that they remain presentable to the target customers. Besides that, fix some of the damages that the items might have to increase the chances of selling them. Avoid wasting much time and money repairing the items since you might raise the prices to cover the costs incurred.

Organize the respective items into different groups. It is quite overwhelming when you have to sort items needed for a tag sale during the sale date. You should start organizing them about two days before the date to make sure that they are in a suitable grouping. Sorting them before the sale will help in counter checking items that do not match up with the required standards and determine their price accordingly.

Tag all your items. Start by going online to check prices for antiques similar to your goods. You should decide on an entirely higher rate compared with the basic market value to cover the price ranges that most clients will consider. Mark the items with a clear sticker and place them on their respective category. If you have a lot of similar goods, you can put them in a box and label them as a group.

Make sure that there is enough traffic flow. There must be enough room for every buyer to walk around your setting. Therefore, try keeping all items at the perimeter of your wall to avoid cluttering your tables with too many items. Most shoppers tend to take time evaluating the items and can end up holding everyone else when there is inadequate space.

Acquaint with local regulations related to the garage sale. Every authority has its policies related to tag sales within their jurisdiction. For that reason, contact the authorities and acknowledge what they expect from you to get a permit. Make this decision about two to three weeks before the sale to ensure that you maintain their expectations.
