Craft A Natural Boundary Using Hedging Plants

By Trevor James

Effective and attractive screens have been made for many years now, by planting hedging plants. Hedges can be used effectively in many different situations.

Most hedges are very efficient when used to protect you from the wind. If you are close to a main road, plants can be used as a brilliant shield to minimise noise pollution and filter huge quantities of dust.

For the majority of us, privacy when we are in our homes and gardens is valuable. Not only can we use hedging plants to form a natural visual screen and protect us from prying eyes, prickly plants can be utilised to add to our security.

Plants are significantly cheaper than installing fixed fence panels. Plants are weather resistantand provide us with a durable barrier that can last many years. Wildlife benefits from the food and shelter provided by hedges. Hedges are far more attractive than most fence panels too.

There lots of advantages to using plants, but it is important to select the best plants for the job first. But an unsuitable variety of plant for your project can make unnecessary work and issues at a later stage. Do your homework and to make the right choices.

It is wise to think about maintenance from the initial planning stage. Generally, people prefer to keep any maintenance time to a minimum. To maintain a neat appearance, plants will need pruning anything from once per year as much as three times a year. Many people opt for small plants which will grow rapidly as a low cost option to finish a project cheaply and rapidly. This solution is usually a false economy in the long run, because of the additional maintenance involved. Another problem can be the regular inconvenience of having large amounts of plant debris to dispose of. Plants of a reasonable height that grow at a steady pace are often the best choice

Position plants carefully. Make sure that you will not cause any obstruction later on with the layout of your plants. Whilst planning, carefully explore what features you are looking for, so that you can select the best plants to meet these requirements. Look at the kind of colours that you would like to see and whether you need a plant with prickles to as a deterrent. For advice and assistance speak to a professional.

You can create a variety of different boundaries with natural hedges.
