Business Building Real Estate Postcards

By Tori Junipelo

There are many things that agents can do to bring attention to the properties they are selling or to their business. Real estate postcards are one of the easiest ways to bring attention to an agent. Although some agents don't think it is a worthwhile effort, using postcards in a direct mailing campaign can be highly successful.

Agents send out real estate postcards for many different reasons. Some cards are made to announce the services that an agent offers. Other cards are made to promote a recent listing or what has sold in the neighborhood recently. When these cards are mailed, they are normally mailed to people that are in need of these services. Before an agent sends out direct mailing pieces, it is very important they have a campaign plan.

It is very important for a realtor to know who they are mailing real estate postcards to and what their needs are. When using a direct mail approach, many agents make the mistake of using a one size fits all approach. This fails because not all people have the same needs and desires when looking for a realtor. There are some people that want to purchase a home so the same card that would appeal to them wouldn't appeal to a renter. There is a huge difference and before a direct mail campaign is started, agents need to know their prospects.

Once the prospect's needs are known, realtors should create a custom real estate postcard that speaks to their needs. When a person receives a piece of mail that is directly related to something they need, they are more likely to read it and pay attention to it. This will increase the chances of the sending agent getting a positive response.

Agents that use general and generic images and messages don't see much success. Template messages and images are available for everyone to use and it will not standout against other realtors. When there are multiple postcards that look alike, all of them are thrown away rather than read. For different campaigns, an agent should take the time to use unique images and text so that their cards stand out. This increases their chances of a positive response.

There are many different advantages for using a real estate postcard. Agents are finding the cost of having a mass amount of postcards produced is actually cheaper than having a full page flyer made. They can have multiple campaign postcards created and the expense is still cheaper and the product smaller, eye catching. Full page flyers don't command attention.

Real estate postcards are often kept and passed along more frequently than flyers. These cards are small and very sturdy so they stand up well to being stored and passed to someone that is interested. When a prospect receives an interesting postcard and don't need the services, they will often pass it to friends. Flyers are often thrown away.

When there is thought and effort put into a direct mailing campaign, responses can be generated. The agents that actually sit down and plan their real estate postcards design, message and distribution see more success than others. These agents make sure they know who they are marketing their services to, what they need and they design a postcard that will fit. When there is effort put into a direct mailing, there are remarkable results achieved.
