Faux Wood Window Blinds For Your Home

By Jerri Perry

If you are looking for an effective window treatment for your home, consider faux wood window blinds. They are reasonably priced, easy to hang, and come in a variety of colors - you can find the perfect ones that will match any room in your home. They will upgrade any room in your house including bathrooms, kitchens, basements and bedrooms.

Choose the element that they are to be coordinated with. It could be the floors, walls, furniture, baseboards or even your art collection. So many different colors and shades are available that it can be difficult to select one among several. Shades to consider include white, light oak, white, cream, ivory, walnut or cherry.

These products can be purchased in standard lengths and widths and special ordered for odd sized openings. Any product, from a large picture window to a tiny bathroom square, can be made to fit your own personal specifications. Some can even be cut to size on the spot for your decorating convenience.

The different styles are child and pet resistant and are very difficult to scratch, discolor, bend, crack or split. If there are rooms that receive excess sunlight that really heat up the areas, they can save money on your electric bill by keeping the rays out during high heat weather.

Cleaning is a snap - just use soap and warm water for dust, discolorations and stains. These treatments are absolutely perfect for residences in high-humidity areas as they are moisture proof, will not splinter or fade, and can withstand very warm and cold temperatures. If you are the owner of a house, cabin or trailer at a lake or seaside, they would really be the perfect treatment for your windows.

Cost may be the biggest advantage to using these over real wood models. There is a huge gap between the pricing of the two, sometimes $200 less for the faux models, especially for larger blinds. If you have limited funds and don't have your heart set on the real thing, this option may be your best selection. Many treatments look so real-to-life that you can barely tell the difference.

Different styles can be purchased - some with varied textures such as a wood grain or embossed stamp. Add extras such as valances, drapes, curtains or cornices to dress up the area. If you love a very simplistic home, you may even want to leave them plain. You will have more control over the amount of sun you let in if there are no other coverings to worry about.

Shutter styles are also a viable option if you want a different look. More light will be able to stream in when they are fully open. They are also more decorative and unique. Expense can also be issue but they may be well worth the extra cost.

Faux wood window blinds will be a welcome addition to any house. The very simplicity and ease of choosing and installing these treatments will add instant charm to living quarters or home office. And don't forget how inviting they will make a house look from the outside.
